Keyframes are groups of markers referring to an object or asset, with selected initial property values and subsequent property values, such that these values increment smoothly from one to the other during play. For example, a projector or model might be rotated between two points, or sequentially between several points, or an asset might be brought from full transparency to zero.
1.Position the playhead for the initial state time.
2.Click the keyframe record icon.
3.Select the object or asset and set the initial values for the required properties. Note that to detect these initial requirements, the required property values must be changed. (So if the initial value is required, change it and then back again.)
4.Move the playhead to the time for the end of the transition.
5.Reselect the same object and set its new values for the same properties.
6.Either repeat for continued transition to further property values, or click the keyframe record icon to stop recording.
This will have created a new layer, which you can rename for its function, containing a yellow diamond showing that it is a keyframe layer. Click this diamond to expand all properties affected with their values at the playhead position:
For incremental value changes, the keyframe bar will be graduated, for step changes (0 /1, on/off) it will be solid colour. When a keyframe set is disabled, it will show as red.
The object will retain the final keyframe values after playing.
Keyframe Properties
Name
Name keyframes by function for ease of recognition.
Interpolation
Choose the interpolation method. Keyframes can be step changes from one state to another (e.g. on, off). Linear interpolations show as graduated colour, step changes as solid.
Time
The time point of the marker on the timeline.
Timepoint Value(s)
A position may have 3 components, X, Y and Z, even though you want to only change one.
Enabled
Keyframe markers can be disabled (first, middle, last or all). Disabled keyframes show red.
