The ADTEC MPEG Players are hard drive based digital video
players and a network appliances designed for integration into global multimedia networks. ADTEC units can be linked
via Ethernet and can play synchronously (Video Walls and Multiple Projector applications). This MxM is compatible
with the Edje (up to the 4013 model), Soloist and Mirage models.

Note that this MxM is compatible with Edje HD 4111 and higher models when the “HD4111” options is selected in the setup.

MxM Installation

To configure an ADTEC MPEG player unit, you have to connect the unit to a serial port of your computer, with the serial cable provided with the unit, and use either the ADTEC “Symphony Pro” utility or a terminal program like Windows Hyper Terminal. This configuration process is needed to set up networking parameters of the player.

Note: the sample procedures shown below use the following sample configuration parameters:

You may want to set different values depending on your network configuration.

Basic configuration using ADTEC Symphony Pro:

Symphony Pro may be download from the ADTEC WEB site at http://www.adtecinc.com.

Following is a simplified guideline for configuration of a unit with this utility (you may refer to the Symphony Pro help for more detailed information):

Basic configuration using Windows Hyper Terminal:

Tip to transfert media to an ADTEC MPEG Player

Once a unit is properly configured, the easiest way to transfer media to the unit is to use Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Here is an example which uses the previous networking configuration parameters:

Note that the Adtec MPEG Player units accept only media with filenames which follows the DOS 8.3 syntax, that is: 8 character filename maximum, with no space, only aphanumeric characters, 3 character extension.

Device Setup

These parameters and others must be set in the unit using the ADTEC Configuration and Control program (Symphony Basic or Symphony Pro).

Graphical User Interface

Device Control Panel

This MxM provides a Device Control Panel can be displayed either as a stand
alone window or inside a User Screen Contenair object with the “Device Control” Manager command. Note: See the Manager Help menu for details about using this command.

Usage: For example, a value of 2 would play the device at half the normal speed.

Play Next

Play the next clip of the Play List.

Play Previous

Play the previous clip of the Play List.

Get Clip List

Get the list of existing clips in the unit. The list is returned in the ClipList system variable as a string. Clip names are separated by CR/LF characters.

Load Clip

Clear the Play List and adds the specified clip to the Play List. Positions the device at the beginning of the clip.

Load Next Clip

Add a clip to the Play List.

Set Master/Slave

Set the Synchronization mode of the unit.

Usage: For example, to setup a group of Adtec MPEG players which you would like to play synchronously, set one unit as master of group #1 and set the other units as slave of group #1. Once set, all of the slaves of the group play in sync with the master. Furthermore, Play, Stop, and Pause commands sent to the master are automatically sent to the slaves of the group.

This works only if:

Refer to ADTEC Documentation for more details.

Set Options

Set various options for the unit.

File Transfer

Performs FTP (File Transfer Protocol) functions

Delete File

Delete a file

Usage: The filename must include file extension.

The Adtec API documentation can be downloaded from the Adtec WEB Site at (http://www.adtecinc.com)[http://www.adtecinc.com] in the “Support” section.

CAUTION: Some of the API Commands may interfere with the regular command processing of the MxM. In particular, transport commands like Play, Stop, etc. should be avoided while positracking the unit.
